![]() ![]() Feel free to message me if you have a question about a topic or disease. These topics become second nature as you work then up the general cases from UWORLD and Kaplan.Īgain best of luck. Specific testing points include antibiotics and their coverage, working up DKA, biostatistics, epidemiology, acute gastroenteritis, jaundice in the young and old, kidney disease, working up pregnancy, thyroid disease and more. The test is designed with interns in mind and they focus heavily on everything you would learn as an intern (more specifically a FM intern). Read as many standard step 3 level cases as you can find. I know I have suggested this already but for me it helped me see the big picture. I found the most helpful things were the cases. I wish you best of luck while you prepare.Ĭoncerning material. I matched into one of the programs as well. I passed it late into this season and got two interviews afterwards. Getting step 3 out of the way will make programs look at you entirely differently. Study as much as will make you feel comfortable and get it out of the way. Day 2 actually felt much easier, and as long as you’re familiar with how to game the CSS case (check out some YouTube vids) and use the program you’ll be fine.īottom line, unless you’re going for internal Med fellowships (and perhaps something else I don’t know about), no one gives a shit about your score. Day 1 is a metric fuck ton of biostats, some stuff I’d literally never heard of before, and that was mind numbing in itself. A lot of questions where you’re not quite sure but can narrow it down to two or three choices. I haven’t gotten my score back but my feelings were similar to Step 2. My balls aren’t bowling balls so I did more studying than most (right over 1000 questions on Uworld, plus repeated about half of my missed questions, as well as doing around 8 practice CSS cases and reading the explanations for most of the others) and it wasn’t too hard to accomplish. Now, some of them by the skin of their teeth, but all passed. Most of my co-interns already took it, they studied very minimally and passed.
